With a crowd of about 400 people attending, the 2007 Kefauver Dinner speakers rallied Democrats to get Andy Berke elected to the state senate Thursday."The people of Tennessee need Andy Berke," state Senator Roy Herron said. As keynote speaker, Senator Herron delivered blistering line after line of attack against the Republican hypocrisy of talking one way but acting the other. Governor Ned McWherter's son, Mike McWherter, also spoke, urging Democrats to get out the vote. Mike McWherter is a candidate for U.S. Senate in Tennessee. "Thursday, Thursday, Thursday," said state Senate candidate Andy Berke. "Please get out there and vote on Thursday." "To get Andy Berke elected we must get voters to the polls," said John Bailes, Chairman of the Hamilton County Democratic Party. "That's what it will take in the end." Also speaking were Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Gray Sasser, Representative JoAnne Favors, and Hamilton County Democratic Party Vice-Chairman Jeff Wilson. Leyonga Fomunung sang the national anthem while Rhonda Catanzaro sang a special rendition of "America, the Beautiful." The Pledge of Allegiance was led by 10-year-old Alex Printz and Veterans from the American Legion in East Ridge. Post a Reply...
