Our Party BlogHave your say about all things democraticFebruary 1, 2008HAMILTON COUNTY EARLY VOTING RESULTS: DEMOCRATS CAPTURE 59.4 PERCENT OF VOTE
Hamilton County Democrats = 8,808 (59.4%)Hamilton County Republicans = 6,025 (40.6%) Total = 14,833 As in other primaries across the nation, Democrats are beating Republicans at the polls in Hamilton County. Three reasons account for this phenomenon. First, Democrats have stronger candidates for president. On principles, values, and vision, our Democratic candidates are in touch with the American people and they are exciting the American people. More importantly, our candidates know how to work for ALL Americans, not just a FEW. Second, America wants a dramatic change after two terms of George W. Bush and Republican control. The policies of George W. Bush have not helped working Americans, nor given our country a greater sense of domestic and international security. Our standing in the world has worsened, our security has weakened, our economy has fallen, and our values have been broken. Voters believe that Democrats will turn our country around, restore our standing in the world, increase our security, lift up our economy for all, and recover the values of being true to ALL Americans. Last, Democrats are right on the issues. We are right on affordable health care, good jobs, strong families, and an end to the war. Every day, Americans struggle to pay high health care premiums, watch as their wages stagnate while the wealthiest in the country fatten, fight for their families in a growing foreclosure and bankruptcy economy, and fear that we are in a "war without end" (as McCain and Bush have put it). For it is only Democrats who have over the last 28 years reformed health care so that more children have access, built an economy of jobs and dividends for all, paid down our national debt, leaving our nation with a surplus, and taken a stand against a war without end. Our Democratic candidates for president are bringing more voters to the polls than the Republican candidates, and be assured it is the voters (everyone of us) who will have his and her say this time. Right now, the voters are saying we must have change, we must have a strong leader, we must have a Democrat in the White House. This post has 1 reply... The article didn't say if the numbers were based on registered voters or based on the type of ballot returned. If it's based on the ballots returned, the ratio could be even more uneven than the numbers listed. I'm a registered Democrat and I elected to take a Republican ballot this year and I used my vote to vote for Ron Paul.
I will end up supporting either Clinton or Obama because in our 2 party system no one else (independent, libertarian, etc.) has a chance. And since I'm reasonably sure that the win will got to either Clinton or Obama anyway, I used my vote to actually vote for change this time. Post a Reply...
