I am writing you to let you know that I will not pursue another term as Chairman of the Hamilton County Democratic Party.Over the last two years, we have had many challenges and many opportunities come our way. We met the challenges of two special elections, and we elected a new and fine state senator, Andy Berke. We also took the opportunity to establish the first Marilyn Lloyd Dinner and create the Marilyn Lloyd Scholarship for Public Service. Congresswoman Marilyn Lloyd reminded us that public service can be good. As a result, we have also seen several of our party board members step up and run for local office, often successfully. In March, I will leave with sadness but also great hope. For over the next four years, President Barack Obama and the new Democratic majorities in the U.S. Congress will provide more opportunity for change. Let's continue to bring change here, in Hamilton County. And I will continue to work together with you after March 2009, recruiting strong leaders, electing Democrats, and volunteering for change. I want to know how to get involved locally. I have been a lifetime registered Republican..who listened to Barrack Obama's vision and voted for him. He is the future of the US and I want to be a part of the party also. Thank you for a job well done, in advance of your leaving. You steered the course and helped keep the momentum going after the work we did for Harold Ford, Jr. The challenge facing all of us now is to keep moving forward and to keep the energy and enthusiasm of the new faces involved and working for our common purpose to continue to elect quality Democratic candidates to office. "Yes, We Can" is really just beginning. You and the party continue to have my support. Heck, continuing to qeull the voice of dissent. Good riddence to Bailes, he screwed up the party this election
