I am honored to have this opportunity to send my very warmest personal greetings to everyone who has gathered in Chattanooga tonight for the 2008 annual Kefauver Dinner. I genuinely regret that I cannot join you, but I am confident that you are having an exciting evening as we prepare for a series of Democratic victories just two weeks from now -- starting with the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States.We Democrats can be proud of the positive message our candidates are carrying across Tennessee and across the nation -- a message of hope, of opportunity, of compassion, of competence, and of positive and much needed change. When Americans need strong leadership, when times are tough, and when the stakes are high, they turn to the Democratic Party -- and our party always delivers. We are ready to meet any challenge, and we are ready for a Democratic victory on November 4th. The work that you are doing in Chattanooga is so very important for the future of our state and nation, and I am personally grateful to each and every one of you for the support and encouragement you have always provided to me and that you are giving to all of our fine candidates at all levels, including Bob Tuke, Andy Berke and JoAnne Favors. Andrea joins me in sending our very best wishes to chairman John Bailes, to dinner co-chairs Lee Davis and Pam Ladd, to each of your distinguished speakers, and to every Democrat who is with you in Chattanooga tonight. Let's keep our enthusiasm in high gear, and let's make sure that election night 2008 is a historic and overwhelming victory for the Democratic Party and for the highest ideals of the American people.
