SEN. BERKE FOCUSES ON SOLVING WATER ISSUES FOR TENNESSEE, NOT FIGHTING WITH OTHER STATES

As a precious resource to our state, water availability and accessibility is on everyone's minds these days. Our Democratic state senator, Andy Berke, is leading the way on this increasingly powerful issue today and for our future by supporting the "Drinking Water & Resources Planning Act" in the state senate. His approach is to focus on solving our water issues, not fighting with Georgia.

Senator Andy Berke wants to make sure we have a "systematic planning process for the long-range management of water resources" in Tennessee. That's why he is supporting the "Drinking Water & Resources Planning Act" in the state senate. According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the act would do the following:

(1) Create a long-range planning management of water resources in the state;
(2) Require water utilities to develop and submit plans on water supply, emergency/drought preparedness and water conservation;
(3) Allow the state to begin water planning on a regional basis; and
(4) Create a revolving fund that eventually helps with local improvements.
